Albers signs with Kolles Le Mans team

Christijan Albers will be competing in the Le Mans Series this year, as Team Kolles joins the championship for the first time. The former Minardi, Midland and Spyker driver will take part in his first race for the team in Barcelona this weekend, partnered by another former F1 driver in Narain Karthikeyan. The most experienced driver in the line-up, Holland's Albers – who left F1 at the end of 2006 – has enjoyed a long working relationship with German Colin Kolles. Entering F1 with Minardi in 2005, the Dutchman joined Kolles' Midland team the following year, before leaving the team – then Spyker – the next year. He raced with impressive performances for the Kolles DTM team last year and also took a strong second place for Audi in the American Le Mans Series at Laguna Seca.

"Christijan is a long-distance professional," said Dr. Kolles. "The whole team has been working very hard during the last weeks for everything to work out perfectly for Barcelona – we hope our efforts will be rewarded."
