04/16/09 Visitors to New Jersey Motorsports Park in 2009 will notice a number of facility improvements designed to enhance the experience during spectator events, beginning with the Grand-Am Rolex Series event May 1-3. The south Jersey facility has dramatically expanded the number of viewing areas and the number of trolleys available to move fans around the 2.25-mile road course. New Jersey Motorsports Park has doubled the total number of seats in its sophomore season. A general admission ticket grants access to any of the seven grandstand locations located around the facility, giving fans a variety of viewing options throughout the day.
Additionally, New Jersey Motorsports Park has doubled the number of trolleys used to transport spectators from the parking areas to the paddock at Thunderbolt Raceway.
Grandstand seats are available at seven different locations around the facility. Inside the paddock, sections of grandstands overlook pit lane, the inside of the very fast Turn 1, the Turn 3 chicane, and the Turn 4 and 5 complex. On the outside of the track, a seating location is near Turns 9 and 11, overlooking the entire "Jersey Devil" section of the facility. Seating is also available outside of Turn 7 near the facility entrance, and on the back side of the track near Turn 6.
"One of the concerns that we needed to address this year were the seating options during races," said Kevin Wittman, General Manager of New Jersey Motorsports Park. "We've increased not only the number of seats, but also the seat locations. Combined with the additional trolleys and the grass that has grown since last season to curb the dust, we've enhanced the entire fan experience."
The grandstands and trolley system will be in place for all of the events at New Jersey Motorsports Park in 2009.
