Great Turnout For “Drive The Mileâ€ Sunday

On a picture-perfect afternoon, there was a great turnout at The Milwaukee Mile for the famed speedway’s annual “Drive The Mile" event, which allowed passenger vehicles ranging from motorcycles to minivans to large dump trucks, to take moderated laps around America’s Legendary Oval.

Part of the admission to this race season kick-off event was a donation of two or more non-perishable food items for the Hunger Task Force of Wisconsin. An event record 3,333 pounds of food, up from 3,000 pounds a year ago, was collected. In addition, $400 cash was donated to help the Hunger Task Force with their growing need to support Milwaukee families.

Race fans, classic car clubs, various race teams and hundreds of passenger cars got their once-a-year chance to drive around The Milwaukee Mile on Sunday, all taking their “three laps of fame."

The growing and popular car show held in the IndyCar Series paddock/NASCAR Garage area was well supported with hundreds of classic cars, tuner cars, motorcycles and race cars on display.

The Milwaukee Mile would like to acknowledge and thank all of the car show participants and event volunteers, the efforts of the Loser’s Car Club, Ed Kalashian, the Mid-American Stock Car Series, Midwest Enduro Stock Car Series and the Vintage Modified Stock Car Club, for their contributions to the success of the 7th Annual “Drive The Mile" event.

The Milwaukee Mile 2009 race season kicks off later this month, one week after the Indianapolis 500, with all the stars of the IndyCar Series racing in the Sunday, May 31st ABC Supply / A.J. Foyt 225 IndyCar Series race. For tickets 24/7, visit www.milwaukeemile.com, or call (414) 453-8277. Milwaukee Mile PR
