NASCAR suspends drug addict
Gray, a member of the Nationwide Series crew for driver Peyton Sellers, was found to have violated the policy April 30, the day prior to the Nationwide Series race at Richmond International Raceway.
The team issued a statement indicating it had cut ties with Gray.
“Cardinal Motorsports maintains a zero tolerance policy, and the crew member in question has been released from the No. 177 Nationwide Series team," the team said in its statement. “It is an unfortunate situation for everyone involved, and has been addressed expeditiously so that the team can return its focus to performance on the track. Cardinal Motorsports respects and appreciates NASCAR’s action in this matter."
To be reinstated after a violation of NASCAR’s substance abuse policy, the suspended person typically must go through a drug rehabilitation program.
