Rain halts Wednesday’s Indy action

UPDATE Only three cars made it onto the track at Indianapolis this morning before rain fell on the Speedway.

Alex Lloyd was on track for more 'refresher' training. Two of the drivers, Nelson Philippe and Stanton Barrett, still need to complete their mandatory rookie test to be eligible to qualify on Saturday. Philippe, clocked the fastest speed in the brief session at 217.668 mph.

Rookies Mike Conway, Robert Doornbos, Alex Tagliani and Raphael Matos completed their tests Tuesday. The full IndyCar field is expected to have their first practice later today.
