Aussie Telecommunications giant signs for racing sponsorship

Telecommunications brand 3 will be an on-car sponsor of V8 Supercar team Dick Johnson Racing for the rest of 2009.

The deal is an expansion of the previous arrangement, under which 3, the brand owned by Hutchison 3G, had no on-car sponsorship. Its branding will now appear under the rear wing of the team's two cars, a position regularly captured by in-car cameras, as well as on DJR merchandise.

DJR is Australia's oldest touring car team, and has won six Australian Touring Car Championship titles, though the most recent was in 1995.

Hutchison 3G also has a sponsorship deal in place with Cricket Australia worth more than US$20 million.
