Open letter to Ferrari, Red Bull/Toro Rosso, Renault and Toyota

A reader writes, As an F1 fan for over 40 years I have simply had enough of the restrictive rules and inconsistent decisions affecting the sport I love. I am thrilled that you have all taken a strong position against the FIA and I would urge you to take this one step further by establishing your own Grand Prix Series.

The thought of a 2 tier system in F1 is just ludicrous. Attracting underfinanced and second-rate teams also does nothing for the top motor sport series. Add to that the fact that the USA, Canada and now possibly the UK will not have races next year and you have the recipe for the complete demise of F1 as we know it.

The fans have had enough of both the FIA and Mr. Ecclestone. Ironically I have to believe that all the cost cutting needed could be achieved by simply getting out from under FOM and Mr. Ecclestone. I, for one, will support you to the fullest extent in a new series.

I believe I am just one of millions who share this view. Let this be the start of a new era in F1 where racing, technology and the fans take precedence over politics, fines and knee-jerk rule making. Ray Masters, Hawaii
