Westbrook commented on his great race: "I had never won this race before and Monaco is so special, it is the jewel in the crown." Teams had the day off on Saturday and Westbrook says he used his time to imagine today's start and it seems to have paid off. "It was a perfect start. The race was strong. At the end it got close with René Rast. He was following me by 0.4sas I was never able to pull a big lead. At the swimming pool I thought he would pass me, but I controlled him. I am so pleased for my team as today my car was perfect. I can't wait for Turkey, a race I won in 2004 with FIA GT."
Taking a look at the overall results, reigning Dutch Champion Jeroen Bleekemolen (Konrad Motorsport) who finished in third on the Monaco podium, was leading two weeks after the Barcelona Grand Prix, the third round of the 2009 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Bleekemolen started Round 4 in Monaco as the overall leader with 64 points and still maintains his lead, commenting: "With the team, we ran a good strategy in qualifying and it paid off during the race. I had problems during the race, my engine was not smooth, but I want to forget all this because I am on the podium. A podium in Monaco is something difficult to describe and I am in the lead of the championship and I want to repeat my deed in Turkey for the next race."
At the Tudor SPS sponsored team, the mood is high despite a difficult race for Richard Williams. When asked about his accident Williams said "It was a pity because my start was strong and I gained one position right away. I was doing all right, the pace was there, and as I was trying to overtake the guy in front of me, the chicane was there. It's a shame that I could not continue after touching the rail, my water radiator was leaking but I managed to bring the car back to the pit garage ahead of Brawn F1 team." Williams may be disappointed, considering that his weekend had started smoothly with him in the seventh fastest position in Thursday's practice session (1.39.749 time) and a qualifying position in 11th with 1.38.170, but he knows there are still many races to come in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. "I am sorry for the team as we could have both been in the points," Williams said. "Let's see how Turkey's race will turn out. I am looking forward to the challenge and the speed there. It is a brilliant challenge for us and I like the track."
Team-mate Patrick Huisman's weekend was written off as his car suffered a contact with the new barriers on Friday. The team managed to reconstruct the car entirely ahead of qualifying by sleeping only one hour, but Huisman only qualified in 12th position. "There was nothing we could do despite the hard work of my mechanics all night," said Huisman, whose favorite track of the season is right here in Monaco. "We thought it would be perfect for qualifying but the car was not breaking perfectly. I was disappointed because the free session signed the weekend and the damage on Friday caused the car not to be in perfect shape for the rest. I took it easy the first laps of the race and was trying to work on the tires to warm them up." Of his result Huisman said, "I did not have a positive feeling but I saw a bit of light as I was able to pass Janak. But then there was no other occasion seeing as the track is narrow here. Turkey is a technical and fast track, so far I have done well there but it is not easy."
