Rain washes out NASCAR qualifying
NASCAR Sprint Cup practices and qualifying were rained out Friday at Pocono Raceway, along with the ARCA schedule of on-track activity.
Sunday's starting lineup is being set according to NASCAR rules, based in part on car owner points. That awards Tony Stewart, a two-time Cup champion, with the pole and puts Jeff Gordon second on the grid.
An all-day rain forced the cancellations. NASCAR officials announced their call shortly before 3 p.m. at the 2.5-mile triangular track at Long Pond, Pa.
Both Saturday and Sunday look a lot better, according to most weather forecasts, with sunshine and mid-70s expected. There's about a 30 percent chance showers could return on Sunday.
ARCA teams will line up for Saturday's race based on current owner points.
