ISC, Cordish Co. Unveil Plans For Casino Adjoining Kansas Speedway
Kansas Entertainment Reveals Details For Proposed $385M Casino |
Kansas Entertainment, a joint venture between ISC and Baltimore-based developer Cordish Co., "revealed details Wednesday" of its proposal for a $385M casino adjoining Kansas Speedway. The proposal is "one of two under consideration by the Kansas Lottery Commission for one of two casinos to be awarded this year." Cordish Co. President of Gaming & Resorts Joseph Weinberg "emphasized the potential for attracting tourists by combining the casino project with the race track." Awarding Kansas Entertainment the contract "would bring together the Hard Rock Casino brand," ISC and NASCAR. Weinberg: "Combine that with NASCAR fans' higher propensity to gamble than the general population and the higher propensity of IRL fans to gamble, compared to the general population. No one can match our ability to drive revenue to this market." Kansas Entertainment "promised to open the casino in 14 months, but asked for a 36-month window." The state Lottery Commission "faces a June 30 deadline to get contracts with each developer to the Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board." That seven-member board "will select the developer for the project" Daytona Beach NEWS-JOURNAL.
