Surtees claims pole
Henry Surtees took pole position for Race Two this morning at Brno, Czech Republic, just ahead of Red Bull Junior driver Mikhail Aleshin.
Henry, with his father John Surtees watching on, set his benchmark time with little more than two minutes of the session remaining. Russian Mikhail Aleshin responded immediately, but fell short of taking pole position by just over a tenth of a second.
Race One winner and championship leader Mirko Bortolotti was third, but drops five places down the grid following a sporting infringement yesterday.
Nicola De Marco set a time only 0.002s slower than Bortolotti, whilst Julien Jousse enjoyed his best qualifying run in Formula Two so far – the Frenchman was fifth, ahead of Andy Soucek. Three tenths of a second covered the top six drivers, with the top 17 drivers separated by less than one second.
