New components for Brawn in Germany

The Brawn GP team is remaining watchful of Red Bull Racing after the latter scored more points for the second consecutive race at Silverstone. With Brawn having won three quarters of 2009 races so far and Red Bull the fourth, Ross Brawn knows that there is still time for any eventuality to take place this season as the Brackley team debuts number of new parts at the next race. With eight races down and nine remaining, team principal Brawn is fully away that either of the Red Bull drivers can successfully catch Jenson Button, who currently leads the championship by 25 points from the nearest Red Bull, with Vettel in third place overall. "Red Bull have been pretty close all year so I think we have got to find some performance because they made a good step at Silverstone," Brawn admitted.

Ross also knows that, if Red Bull ever proves too quick to catch, the white cars must ensure that podium finishes are possible to minimize the damage. "With the confusion over the tires, we didn't run some new pieces we had because Friday (practice at Silverstone) was very difficult with the tire temperatures," he continued. "We couldn't determine how the new bits were working so we decided to avoid confusion and went back to what we had in Turkey; we've got those bits and we have some new improvements for the Nürburgring."

Although the RB5 may have clearly outpaced the BGP 001 in Britain, Ross has faith in his team and the knowledge of a (literally) brawny car. "It has always been a strong car aerodynamically and at Silverstone in the slow to medium speed stuff we didn't take the return we normally could because the tires were cold. We probably need to see a bit more of normal conditions to really judge it."
