New components for Brawn in Germany
Ross also knows that, if Red Bull ever proves too quick to catch, the white cars must ensure that podium finishes are possible to minimize the damage. "With the confusion over the tires, we didn't run some new pieces we had because Friday (practice at Silverstone) was very difficult with the tire temperatures," he continued. "We couldn't determine how the new bits were working so we decided to avoid confusion and went back to what we had in Turkey; we've got those bits and we have some new improvements for the Nürburgring."
Although the RB5 may have clearly outpaced the BGP 001 in Britain, Ross has faith in his team and the knowledge of a (literally) brawny car. "It has always been a strong car aerodynamically and at Silverstone in the slow to medium speed stuff we didn't take the return we normally could because the tires were cold. We probably need to see a bit more of normal conditions to really judge it."
