Badoer penalized after fourth speeding violation

(GMM) Luca Badoer was issued an official reprimand on Friday following a fourth pit lane speeding violation on his return to formula one action at Valencia.

As previously reported, Felipe Massa's Ferrari substitute collected a hat-trick of monetary penalties tallying 5400 euros for three times going over the 60kph speed limit during practice.

When he once again infringed the limit, however – this time by less than 2kph – the European grand prix stewards summoned both the 38-year-old Italian and Ferrari's team manager.

"Penalty: A reprimand," the stewards' report concluded.

The team's long-time test driver Badoer was last in the morning session and 18th in the afternoon, and acknowledged afterwards that it had been a "difficult day".

"It was vital that I did not make any serious mistakes so that I could get through the programme we had established," he added.

"The team has not set me any specific goal for this weekend and I am pleased about that consideration because it is important I return to having full confidence in the car and with the world of the grand prix weekend," said Badoer.
