ISC puts the screws to the media

Today many media members are paid almost nothing to attend and report on race events. Journalists never were paid huge sums of money, especially motorsports journalists. Many live paycheck to paycheck.

Starting the next race, the France family run ISC, that owns Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, will charge anyone dining in the Media Lounge (media, team PR reps, photographers, etc.) $25 for meals during the Pepsi 500 Weekend. The cost includes all meals for the weekend (lunch and dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday) as well as snacks throughout the weekend.

While the price is certainly not exorbitant, what's particularly galling to many media members is the fact that ISC is awash in money, making hundreds of millions of dollars per year in profits. Having raped race fans for years with very high ticket prices, we guess if they can squeeze $25 from each media member they will have found a way to generate revenue from the poorest people in the paddock.

So while they offer prayer before every race to almighty god, ISC prays their armored truck carrying their almighty dollars make it safely to the bank by races end.
