Webber’s changed engine did not fail – Horner
Red Bull team boss Christian Horner confirmed that, contrary to Sebastian Vettel's terminal failures at Valencia, the Renault V8 taken out of Webber's RB5 at Spa might not be seriously damaged.
"We don't yet know precisely what is wrong with the engine," the Briton told Germany's RTL broadcaster. It later emerged it was an electrical rather than a mechanical problem.
"As a precautionary measure we changed it," he confirmed.
After initial checks on the removed engine were carried out in the paddock, Webber said: "It looks like it's okay."
Horner also confirmed that, while sister team Toro Rosso stuck with the broader nose this weekend, Red Bull in Belgium reverted to the thin nose seen earlier this season "for aerodynamic reasons".
