Soucek wins Williams test
Spanish-born racer Andy Soucek secured a test with the Williams Formula One team after becoming the first F2 champion since New Zealander Mike Thackwell in 1984.The test with Williams is a real chance for me to get into Formula One," said the 24-year-old, who has Spanish and Austrian nationality and won the title at Italy's Imola circuit with three races to spare.
Formula Two was revived by the International Automobile Federation this year to offer a low-cost alternative to the GP2 series as a stepping stone to Formula One, with the cars designed by Williams.
"We are looking forward to running him in our Formula One car, and I hope the whole process will help get him to achieve his ambition to compete in the Formula One World Championship," said Williams co-owner Patrick Head.
