Honda rules out getting badly beaten again

Car manufacturer Honda has said it might one day return to Formula One but not in the near future. The Japanese car manufacturer pulled out of Formula 1 to everyone's surprise in December last year and sold the team to Ross Brawn after being smoked on the track week in and week out by other car manufacturers, making their product look inferior. A similar degradation of Toyota's reputation continues so it is just a matter of time before Toyota management says enough is enough.

Honda Chief Executive Takanobu Ito told Reuters at Suzuka they wouldn't see themselves re-enter the sport in the near future. "It would be difficult to re-enter Formula One racing under current business conditions," he said. "But in the future, if it became a competition based on fuel efficiency and performance, as well as pose a technical challenge, then we would surely want to take part. I do not see that happening in the near future."
