Another deadline extension for Donington GP
(GMM) Bernie Ecclestone has yet again extended Donington's deadline to get its funding in place for the British grand prix.
Contractually, the Leicestershire circuit had to prove it could refurbish its facilities and host next July's race by the end of this September, but F1's chief executive gave boss Simon Gillett an extension until October 3.
October 3 is Saturday, and from the Suzuka circuit in Japan, Ecclestone confirmed that another extension has now been granted.
"They pleaded for extra time and have had several deadlines. It's October 9 to show me they have the finances in place or we will be finished with Donington," he is quoted as saying by the Daily Express.
