J.C. France, the 43-year-old son of NASCAR Vice Chairman Jim France and a driver in NASCAR’s Grand-Am road-racing circuit, was suspended from competition Thursday following his arrest early Thursday morning on charges of driving under the influence and alleged possession of cocaine.

“Grand Am has issued a penalty notice and suspended J.C. indefinitely from all competition for actions detrimental to racing," Grand-Am spokesman Ramsey Poston said. “The penalty is not appealable. JC is being treated like any other competitor. His suspension is immediate and indefinite. “
