McLaren boss warns Button not to choke
The Englishman is leading the standings by 14 points and needs just a podium finish at Interlagos on Sunday to secure his first F1 Championship title.
After dominating the early part of the season, the 29-year-old has limped towards the finishing line as the rest of the field caught up with the early-season power of the Brawn team.
McLaren star Lewis Hamilton took the title last year in the final race of the season in Brazil, moving to fifth place on the final two corners to secure the points he needed to win the championship.
Hamilton is not in contention to take this year's prize but his boss hopes that countryman Button does not adopt the same strategy as his driver 12 months ago.
"There is a lot of pressure but Jenson shouldn't be too cautious," he said. "He doesn't have to go all out to win but if he gets too defensive it could hamper his natural flair and flow.
"We took a relatively defensive strategy and it turned into a very difficult race for all of us. We made some mistakes in 2007 and went flat out when we didn't need to and so we should have guided Lewis better last season when there was an enormous amount of pressure on him.
"Brawn can't be too defensive as it is very, very competitive in Formula 1. If Button does his job normally with the car he has and the points advantage that he has, then he ought to win the championship and he ought to win it here."
