Braun wins Truck pole at Talladega

Roush Fenway Racing’s Colin Braun won the pole Friday in a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series qualifying session where Austin Dillon’s time was disallowed for failing post-qualifying inspection.

The No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet of Dillon did not meet height requirements and was disqualified. Dillon failed to make the race because his team is running a partial schedule and therefore not eligible for a guaranteed starting spot.

Braun turned a lap of 179.608 mph to win the pole for Saturday’s Mountain Dew 250. He topped HT Motorsports’ Terry Cook, who went 178.188. Germain Racing’s Max Papis qualified third at 178.052.

GunBroker.com Racing’s Jason White was fourth, with Billy Ballew Motorsports’ Aric Almirola fifth.

Sixth through 10th were Todd Bodine (Germain), Matt Crafton (ThorSport Racing), Tayler Malsam (Randy Moss Motorsports), Stacy Compton (Wyler Racing) and Kyle Busch (Ballew).

Series point leader Ron Hornaday qualified 12th.
