Edwards wins Nationwide pole
Carl Edwards, driver of the No. 60 Ortho Ford Fusion captured the pole for Saturday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Ford 300 race at Homestead Miami Speedway. Edwards posted a lap of 32.073 seconds at 168.366 miles per hour. This is the 18th career pole for Edwards in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and seventh of the 2009 season.
“Boy, I’m looking forward to a good race," said Edwards. "That’s a fast race car, that Ortho Ford Fusion is good and I’m glad to be driving a Ford for a lot of reasons but here at Homestead, they just seem to run so well. I don’t know what it is. I don’t know why we’re able to go so fast here but that’s the best we’ve run at a mile-and-a-half in a long time. I’m really excited about the race. I’m really excited to have Ortho on board. They made a new mouse trap, it’s great and they want to get a win with that car. I’d really like to finish this season strong with it."
