Paffett wants new McLaren test contract

(GMM) Gary Paffett has indicated he wants to remain with McLaren in 2010 as a test driver.

The 28-year-old DTM driver has occasionally tested with the Woking based team for several years, but does not completely rule out the possibility of a race seat elsewhere in 2010.

"I am looking at my options, but to be honest another year in the DTM championship seems to be the most likely," the Briton told Kent News.

It is believed Paffett has not yet signed a new McLaren deal for 2010, but he said he is keen to work alongside F1's most recent champions and fellow Englishmen Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.

"Working with both Jenson and Lewis in an entirely British team will be a great opportunity," said Paffett. "The hype that will be around the British grand prix being a completely British team is something I want to experience."

Paffett is expected to test with McLaren at Jerez this week, and the team announced on Monday that 22-year-old Briton Olivier Turvey will drive the MP4-24 at the Spanish circuit as his prize for winning the Autosport BRDC young driver award in 2006.
