Sainz take the lead in Dakar Rally
Stephane Peterhansel was delayed on stage five, passing the lead to Carlos Sainz took the lead today in the Dakar Rally.
Peterhansel, with nine wins in the Dakar, led for the last two days, but had to stop twice during today’s' leg with mechanical issues on his X-raid BMW.
With his trademark consistency, Sainz to moved up to first in the overall standings, trailing his VW teammate Miller, who won the stage going away, though Sainz was managing to close the gap for a time.
Sainz, Petehansel and Miller hold the top three positions with VW the commanding manufacturer.
Robby Gordon is making a solid challenge as well, after a slow start to the rally, and really seems to be finding his speed now, which should make for an exciting class finish.
