Wallace team announces driver and crew chief

Officials of Rusty Wallace Racing (RWR) announced today that Brendan Gaughan—a top-ten finisher in the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series standings—will again pilot the organization’s No. 62 Toyota Camry in a full-season bid for the 2010 Nationwide Series championship.

Gaughan returns to RWR following a strong 2009 rookie season in the Nationwide Series.  That effort included a pole win at Bristol and near victories at Charlotte, Kentucky and Memphis, en route to a ninth-place finish in the final driver standings.

Backing a portion of the No. 62 team’s 2010 efforts will again be the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Stated RWR Team Owner, Rusty Wallace, “Our entire organization is very pleased to have Brendan Gaughan behind the wheel of our No. 62 Toyota Camry again.  He did a great job last year in his rookie season and came really close to winning a couple of races.  I feel like we’ve upgraded our program greatly over last season, so hopefully we’ll be able to give him that extra push to get him into Victory Lane this time around.

“I’d really like to thank Michael and Paula Gaughan for their support of our organization.  Their family is truly a class act and we’re all really looking forward to having them a part of the RWR family again this season.  With that said, just like everyone else these days, our guys are still working very hard to finalize sponsorship.  Our team offers an outstanding and unique value proposition and I’m confident that we’ll be able to put everything to bed shortly."

Officials of Rusty Wallace Racing (RWR) announced today that New York native, Scott McDougall has been named crew chief for Steve Wallace and RWR’s No. 66 team, effective immediately.

McDougall originally joined RWR in late 2009, after serving as engineer for CJM Racing’s No. 11 team.  In that role, McDougall helped to lead an effort that resulted in five top-five and eight top-ten finishes over the final 11 races of 2009 for the now-defunct organization.  That run included five consecutive top-ten finishes to close the season, with drivers Mike Bliss and Denny Hamlin.

Prior to his experience at CJM, McDougall was a longtime member of the Evernham Motorsports organization, including a stint as crew chief of its No. 19 team and driver Elliott Sadler in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Stated RWR team owner, Rusty Wallace, “I’m really pleased to make this announcement.  Scott McDougall brings a great deal of experience and a strong engineering-driven approach to our team’s efforts.  As we go along, we’re constantly trying to upgrade all aspects of our program and this is yet another large upgrade.  Between this announcement and our new Toyota and Gibbs alignments, 2010 is shaping up to be the strongest year yet for our team."
