Sauber says second 2010 race seat ‘open’
(GMM) Peter Sauber has declined to say whether Pedro de la Rosa or Giancarlo Fisichella are the favorites to become Kamui Kobayashi's teammate in 2010.
But the 66-year-old did tell the Swiss newspaper Blick: "Everything is open."
Recent reports said Spaniard de la Rosa, 38, had secured the role, but the latest rumor is that Ferrari reserve driver Fisichella is now on the verge of a deal.
Blick said on Monday that technical boss Willy Rampf is pushing for Fisichella over de la Rosa, recalling the Roman's 22 points versus Felipe Massa's 12 at the Hinwil based team in 2004.
It is also rumored that powertrain supplier Ferrari is applying pressure on the team to sign Fisichella, but boss Sauber said: "In the end, only I will decide."
