All eyes will be on newcomer Danica Patrick, as one of the most recognizable racers in the country is scheduled to make her stock car racing debut behind the wheel of a JR Motorsports entry in the Daytona ARCA event. SPEEDtv.com will offer enhanced coverage of Patrick’s effort, delivering exclusive streaming in-car cameras, a dedicated roof camera, as well as pit-to-car radio communications.
“I want to perform well … I want to do well," Patrick said on a recent episode of SPEED’s NASCAR Race Hub. “I want to know I’m ready. I think I’ve talked about it quite a few times – just the little things – pit stops and when do you put it into gear on a pit stop. I haven’t even done many burnouts in the car yet. There’s a whole way you can kind of slip the clutch and get it rolling. So, just little things and getting up to speed on cold tires in the car and where’s that limit? Once I’m at speed and running in traffic, I have a lot to learn there but I’m a little more comfortable because it’s more common racing situations and it’s just about feeling the car. I have a lot to learn but I’m excited to get going and hopefully it goes well."
Last year’s Daytona ARCA opener, scored a Nielsen Household rating of 1.45 (1,062,000 households), the highest rating ever for an ARCA race on SPEED. The 2009 race peaked at a 1.55 (1,137,000 households) and maintained a million-plus-household audience for nearly the entire race.
