Kimi Räikkönen remains upbeat after competing in his first World Rally Championship event at the weekend. The 2007 Champion switched from Formula 1 with Ferrari to the Red Bull Junior Team for 2010, finishing 30th overall in Sweden.

Having started off in the top ten on Thursday's opening super special stage, Finn Räikkönen continued to set impressive times but eventually finished over half an hour down on winner Mirko Hirvonen's Ford after leaving the road and becoming grounded on a snow bank on Friday. Kimi, however, remains positive.

"Yes, it was really good," the 30-year-old commented of his debut outing in the Citroën C4. "I didn't like the first stage on Saturday morning so much, then we stalled the engine and got stuck for a little bit on the second stage. After then it all went really well for me, it was a nice day.

"I'm feeling more confident with the car and we had no problems at all. I always knew that finding the right driving style would take a bit of time but now it's gradually coming."

The championship now moves from the snow and ice of Sweden to the gravel of Mexico, which hosts its event on the first weekend of March. GPUpdate.net
