Highway widening should benefit Vegas fans
A design-build project by the Nevada Department of Transportation has widened I-15 to four lanes in each direction between the U.S. 95 interchange and Craig Road. This project was completed well ahead of schedule and should improve ingress and egress for the Feb. 26-28 events.
"We are very grateful to the Nevada Department of Transportation for its efficiency in completing this project," said LVMS president Chris Powell. "When we first heard of this project in 2007, we were told it would impact NASCAR Weekend in '08, '09 and 2010. But NDOT delayed the start until after the '08 race and concluded the project before this year's big weekend – a full six months ahead of schedule."
While commuting by car should be much easier, the speedway still encourages fans to use mass transit to attend the races. For the second consecutive year, Coach America will service the event. In 2009, Coach America replaced CAT as the preferred transit organization for the events at LVMS. Race fans can contact Coach America at nascar.coachamerica.com or (702) 948-7360.
