Grand-Am announces increased contingency awards

Contingency awards for the 2010 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 and the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge will increase by 36 percent in 2010 over 2009, GRAND-AM officials announced today.

A total of 19 contingency partners will offer prizes to Rolex Series and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge teams this year. The increase in contingency awards is due in part to new contingency partners participating in the 2010 season, as well as some existing contingency partners making significant increases in their awards.

Another reason for the increase is that all contingency prizes will be awarded in 2010. Awards will go to the top-finishing eligible team or teams in each contingency program, regardless of whether or not they actually won the race or finished among the top-three positions.

"At a time when economic conditions are still difficult for many, we are fortunate to announce that our contingency awards have substantially increased this year," said GRAND-AM Vice President, Marketing and Communications Kevin Hindson. "Every team in the Rolex Series and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge will benefit from more prize money, and we are grateful to our tremendous contingency partners for stepping up to increase the program."

GRAND-AM contingency partners for 2010 include Airgas, Alcon, AP Racing, BBS Wheels, Bosch Spark Plugs, Brembo, Cobalt Friction, Dynamic Suspensions, EMCO Gears, Forgeline, ignition, KONI, MESCO Building Solutions, MoTec, Penske Racing Shocks, Performance Friction Brakes, SunTrust, Superwinch and Xtrac.
