Aero changes in time for Texas race

The rear wing has been blamed for Sprint Cup cars getting airborne in recent accidents, including Brad Keselowski’s car which was hit by Carl Edwards in the March 7 race at Atlanta.

NASCAR said in the days after that wreck it would do extensive research into identifying the problem and potential solutions.

Robin Pemberton, NASCAR's vice president of competition, said Wednesday NASCAR will implement some changes in time for the April 18 race at Texas.

“Some of the things we’ve implemented in our (spoiler) testing this week at Talladega like the large shark fin up the back flap and on the deck lid we will put into play in all of the race tracks, but it will start at Texas," he said.

“Those are the types of things that help us prevent cars from getting off the ground. We will continue to work it. We have made some gains."
