Mowlem to run LMP-C

Johnny Mowlem is to join the American Le Mans Series' new LMP Challenge class for the next two rounds with debutant team PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports. Former Atlantic squad PR1 is a new addition to the ALMS' single-make division for the ORECA-built machines originally used in Formula Le Mans in Europe, and will join the series in Long Beach two weeks from now. Mowlem will line-up with Tom Papadopoulos in the car.

"I've been very impressed by Bobby Oergel and his team, and I get a really good feeling that their lack of ALMS background will not matter at all, as they bring a real single seater professionalism to the way they approach a race weekend," said Mowlem.

"Having watched the new class' first race at Sebring and the quality of drivers that it attracted, both professional and amateur, I saw that LMPC had almost immediately established itself as a very competitive and worthwhile prototype class.

"I am very much looking forward to racing and getting back to being prototype sharp at one of my all-time favorite circuits, and driving alongside Tom Papadopoulos, who I know will be an excellent team mate."

Mowlem will only drive for PR1 in Long Beach and at Laguna Seca, as he is set to return to the Corsa team when its hybrid Ginetta Zytek LMP1 car rejoins the championship at Miller Motorsports Park in July.
