"Miller Lite Carb Day is all about excitement and a good time, and that's exactly what ZZ Top delivers with its high-octane music," said Jeff Belskus, president and chief executive officer of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation. "We're thrilled to welcome the band to the Speedway for what promises to be a fantastic day for the fans."
ZZ Top, formed in 1969 in Houston, is the longest-running band still consisting of its original members and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Guitarist and vocalist Billy Gibbons, bassist and vocalist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard have become worldwide icons with their trademark style of sunglasses and the long beards worn by Gibbons and Hill.
The band has recorded its signature blues-rock sound on 14 studio albums since its 1970 debut. The albums "Eliminator" and "Afterburner" were worldwide smashes, spawning such hits as "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Sharp Dressed Man," "Legs," "Sleeping Bag," "Rough Boy" and "Velcro Fly."
Other classic ZZ Top hits include "La Grange," "Tush," "Cheap Sunglasses," "I Thank You," and "Tube Snake Boogie."
The Miller Lite Carb Day Concert featuring ZZ Top will be the finale of an action-packed day at IMS. The final practice for the 33 starters in the Indianapolis 500 will take place from 11 a.m.-noon, followed by the Firestone Freedom 100 race for Firestone Indy Lights at 12:30 p.m. The popular Pit Stop Challenge, which will crown the fastest crew of the Indianapolis 500, takes place from 1:30-3 p.m.
The 2010 Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, May 30.
