Live Auto GP coverage added to Motors TV’s 2010 line-up
The announcement comes hot on the heels of news that the cable and satellite motorsport-specialists have become the home of live FIA GT3 and International GT Open coverage, joining an impressive live bill which also includes the FIM World Motocross and British Rallycross championships, selected ALMS and V8 Supercar races as well as the groundbreaking Motors TV Live Race Day club motorsport events.
All six of this season’s Auto GP rounds will be broadcast in full on Motors TV with at least one of Sunday’s races scheduled to be live, while the other will be replayed as-live later in the afternoon. In some cases, both races will be live.
The championship enters its first season under the Auto GP banner in 2010 after being known as Euroseries 3000 for the past four years. Using first generation A1GP single seaters, the low-cost formula is intended to allow up-and-coming racers a chance to test their skills against more experienced rivals.
Indeed, this season’s grid features the likes of Britain’s Duncan Tappy and Adrian Tambay, son of 1980’s Ferrari F1 driver Patrick, who will pit their wits against ex-F1 and IndyCar driver Giorgio Pantano, Renault F1 reserve Jan Charouz, Alvaro Parente and former Euroseries 3000 champion Luca Filippi. Competition will be fierce with each aiming to claim a share of the €200,000 prize fund available at each round.
The opening round of this season’s Auto GP championship comes from Brno in the Czech Republic this Sunday (April 25). Race one is live on Motors TV at 10am with the second delayed but in full at 4pm.
