Dyson Racing, competing in the American Le Mans Series with its Mazda MZR-R Lola LMP Coupe, has announced a new partnership with Monticello Motor Club, the automotive lifestyle resort and track located ninety minutes from Manhattan, for track testing, technical development and team driver practice. Co-designed by racing legend Brian Redman, the private race resort features a 4.1"mile road course including 1.5 miles of straights, 22 unique turns, 12 different configurations, including a 3.5-mile long course with over 450 feet of total elevation change.
“The Monticello Motor Club is more than a just country club for its private driving enthusiasts," commented Chris Dyson, who runs Dyson Racing and drives the #16 BP"sponsored Mazda Lola Coupe. “It is also the perfect place for sorting cars and developing and evaluating drivers." Most recently, Dyson Racing's Chris Dyson and Guy Smith took a 4th place finish at the Long Beach Grand Prix following their podium finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring, one of American’s greatest sports car races. In 2009, Dyson Racing scored two ALMS wins including the Petit Le Mans, the biggest victory in Mazda’s ALMS history.
The team's next event is the American Le Mans Monterey Six Hours at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, on May 22. Dyson Racing is considered one of North America’s leading sportscar racing teams. “I credit much of last year’s win at the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix to our testing at Monticello Motor Club a week prior to the race," added Dyson. “Because Monticello is a big track with many configuration options, we can run the configuration that best emulates the next ALMS race venue. There is no better place to test for the American Le Mans Series than Monticello." “We are delighted to have Dyson Racing call Monticello Motor Club their new home track," noted Ari Straus, the club’s President. “Our club members range from novices with no track driving experience to racing pros, who all share a love of motorsports. It’s a special experience to watch the Dyson machines turn fast laps on our track and then have their champion drivers relax with club members to discuss vehicle dynamics and racing techniques." Monticello Motor Club was founded in 2008 as the premier automotive country club for track enthusiasts, from complete beginners to professional racers. Located just 90 minutes from Manhattan, the resort is the perfect getaway for the motorsport enthusiast. Co"designed by racing legend Brian Redman with 77 wins and 12 championships, the 4.1 mile track features 1.5 miles of straights, 22 unique turns, 12 different configurations, including a 3.5 mile long course, and over 450 feet of total elevation change. The resort also features advanced car control clinics for members’ teenage children and karting facilities for members’ children. Now open for its third season, the Club has expanded its offerings with a new club Pavilion, complete with classrooms, kitchen, bar, pro"shop, member’s lounge, locker rooms, and attached hotpit temperature"controlled garages, and more private member garages.
