24 GP2 drivers ready for season opener

The sixth season of the GP2 Series opens this weekend in Barcelona alongside Formula One. After five thrilling seasons, the GP2 Series is now generally seen as the strongest feeder category for Formula One and 2010 is not one to contradict that fact: with eleven GP2 graduates on the F1 starting grid, the GP2 Series has clearly become the category to go through when one ambitions to reach the pinnacle of motorsport.

This season also marks the last run of the second generation car which has already proven to be extremely reliable, safe and powerful. Therefore, no change has been made to the 2009 kit. Once again, the drivers’ talent and skills will decide who gets to take the crown home.

Following the success of Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Timo Glock and our latest champion Nico Hülkenberg – to name a few, this year’s twenty-four contestants will once again try and prove their worth, fighting tooth and nails for the ultimate victory.

Once again the championship opens in Barcelona, Spain when the Formula One circus opens their European season: this event will be the first of ten weekends as the official Formula One support series in 2010. The season will close mid- November in Abu Dhabi along with Formula One’s end of the season Grand Prix.

And so, this weekend, a new season begins in Barcelona where twenty-four drivers, including five GP2 race winners and ten rookies, will compete for the first win of the season.
