Hulkenberg positive despite costly crash

The Williams rookie lost control of his FW32 after running wide at the exit of the Campsa corner and spun back across the track and into the tire barrier, doing damage to the front of his car.
With the accident coming when he had just seven laps on the board, Hulkenberg admitted it was frustrating timing – although he is still optimistic for the weekend ahead after being pleased with the car’s handling up until that point.
“This morning’s session was fine and the car felt pretty good," he said.
“We made some modifications for the second session but my accident halfway through meant we didn’t get much running in.
“I ran wide in the corner and made too much contact with the curb causing the car to bottom out.
“It’s a shame because it obviously cost us a lot of important practice time.
“I’m still positive about the weekend though and I’m looking forward to tomorrow."
Williams isn’t one of the teams that has brought a major update onto its car for this weekend’s race, but the team nevertheless tried out some aero revisions on Rubens Barrichello’s car.
The Brazilian made little impression on the times during the day – finishing the faster second session in 15th place – but hints it was again running heavier fuel loads and thinks Q3 may be possible on Saturday.
“We completed our Friday program successfully spending the two sessions evaluating the items the team have brought here," Barrichello reported.
“Because of the way we run on Fridays, we don’t look competitive, but I feel that we might be a little bit stronger here.
“I will keep my feet on the ground though. The goal is to get through to Q3 tomorrow." ITV Sport
