Mercedes ‘nowhere’ despite Spain updates – Rosberg

(GMM) Nico Rosberg thinks Mercedes has made a backwards step with its updated car.

Although his teammate Michael Schumacher was faster than Rosberg all weekend in Spain, the seven time world champion was still a minute behind the winner at the checkered flag — as he had been in China three weeks ago.

Rosberg, meanwhile, was a lap down, despite finishing twice on the podium in the first four races of 2010.

"Something is not quite right on the car," German reports quote the 24-year-old as saying after the Barcelona race.

"In the last race I was able to fight with Red Bull, now we're nowhere," lamented Rosberg. "We were very slow this weekend, especially me."

Meanwhile, although Lewis Hamilton ended his race in the barriers with a burst tire, the McLaren driver was happy to have been outpaced on Sunday only by winner Mark Webber.

"It was nice to take a step forward and split the Red Bulls," said the 2008 world champion.
