NBC to air Tess Gape special
Tess Gape |
NBC’s Today Show will throw the spotlight on Risi Competizione’s Tess Gape when the network airs a series on women who work traditional male jobs. The feature that highlights Gape will air Sunday (May 23), one day after the American Le Mans Series Monterey presented by Patr¢n at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
NBC caught up with Gape – a mechanic on Risi’s No. 62 Ferrari F430 GT – last month during the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patr¢n’s race in Long Beach. Weekend anchor Jenna Wolfe spent time with Gape to get a feel for Gape’s routine on race weekends. The Toronto native is the team’s Number Two mechanic and also serves as fireman on pit stops.
Gape joined the Houston-based Risi squad in 2007 after working primarily in the open-wheel ranks. She and the rest of the Risi team are fielding two Ferraris for this weekend’s six-hour endurance race.
The event will be streamed live in its entirety online at americanlemans.com starting at 5:30 p.m. ET in partnership with TodoCast.tv. CBS Sports will broadcast the event from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 29. Live radio coverage will be available on American Le Mans Radio presented by Porsche – a production of Radio Show Limited – as well as Sirius Channel 127 and XM Channel 242. Visit the Series’ schedule page for ticket and accommodation information. Live Timing and Scoring, track schedule, entry list and much, much more will be available on Racehub at americanlemans.com.
