Tagliani team to pay back favor to Junqueira

Bruno Junqueira is keeping the faith that enough sponsorship will arrive to make an attempt to qualify for the Indy 500.

"I think at the end of the day, the funding will happen. I'm going to make it one way or another," he said. "It'll probably get done Saturday night. Knowing my experience here, I think it will be something like that.

"I won't have the preparation, but I will start the race. And I know how to go fast here."

His experience includes a crash in 2005 that injured his back and ended his Champ Car season. Then came last year, when he qualified a Conquest Racing car only to be replaced by Tagliani, the team's regular driver who had been bumped.

Tagliani, now with a team of his own, wants to repay the favor.

"We're trying to give him a free ride. There's not a lot teams out here giving those away," Tagliani said. "We're still trying our butts off to make it happen, but nobody is going to go bankrupt or jeopardize our team to do it."
