Jack Nicholson to wave the green at Indy 500

Academy award winner Jack Nicholson will wave the green flag to start Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 Mile Race, the IZOD IndyCar Series announced this morning.

Nicholson will send pole sitter Helio Castroneves and the rest of the 33-car field on their way.

Nicholson is famed for playing charming, anti-authoritarian characters. He won the Academy Award for best actor for “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest" in 1975 and “As Good As It Gets" in 1997, and best supporting actor for “Terms of Endearment" in 1983. Indianapolis Star
