Danica gets a Boost for Indy

Andretti Autosport announced today it has signed one of the top prepaid wireless service providers, Boost Mobile, to a sponsorship agreement in support of the team’s IZOD IndyCar Series program and drivers Danica Patrick and Adam Carroll.

Boost Mobile, which offers monthly unlimited plans with no long-term contracts, will be featured as a major associate sponsor of Patrick’s #7 GoDaddy.com car for the rest of the 2010 season and as the primary sponsor on Carroll’s car when he makes his IZOD IndyCar Series debut at Watkins Glen International later this season. The Boost Mobile logo appeared on Patrick’s car and suit at last week’s qualifications.

Andretti Autosport also signed an associate sponsorship agreement with Virgin Mobile USA for Hunter-Reay’s #37 Team IZOD car during this month’s Indianapolis 500. Both prepaid wireless brands are part of Sprint Nextel and make up a majority of the company’s 11 million prepaid subscribers.

Today’s announcement marks the return of Boost Mobile to the team’s impressive list of global brands. The company served as co-primary sponsor for Patrick in 2009 after making its series debut at the 93rd Indianapolis 500. To celebrate the reunion, Boost Mobile will present Patrick with the Motorola i1 handset, the first walkie-talkie enabled touchscreen phone powered by Android™ from Boost Mobile, which will be available to consumers nationwide next month.

"Danica Patrick helped to drive Boost Mobile's success in 2009 and we're thrilled to be working with her in 2010. Together we'll launch our new Motorola i1 – a device that sets a new technology standard in prepaid," said Bob Stohrer, vice president of marketing, Boost Mobile/Virgin Mobile. "As prepaid continues to move into the mainstream, extending our IZOD IndyCar presence through two additional partnerships – Adam Carroll with Boost Mobile and Ryan Hunter-Reay with Virgin Mobile – will help us make an even stronger statement in the marketplace."

“The return of Boost Mobile and the addition of its sister company under Sprint, Virgin Mobile, is a source of great pride for Andretti Autosport. Working with them again is like a reunion of old friends and we are grateful for their support," said Michael Andretti, chairman, president and chief executive officer, Andretti Autosport.
