Interstate Batteries renews with Gibbs

Interstate Batteries has agreed to a long-term extension of its sponsorship package with Joe Gibbs Racing, continuing an affiliation with the team that started when JGR entered Cup racing in 1992.

The sponsorship will continue to include six races as primary sponsor of the No. 18 Toyota driven by Kyle Busch as well as one Nationwide Series event each season. In addition to the seven total primary sponsorships, Interstate Batteries will continue to have promotional rights with JGR drivers Busch, Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano.

“We have been blessed by our relationship with [company founder] Norm Miller and Interstate Batteries," said team owner Joe Gibbs in a news release. “They took a chance on us 19 years ago as our founding sponsor, and the partnership has been outstanding ever since. They are a great example of the type of relationships we seek to build with our partners, and we’re thrilled to have them continue with us."

Interstate Batteries was on the JGR car Dale Jarrett drove in winning the 1993 Daytona 500 and was with Bobby Labonte when he won the 2000 Cup title.

“After almost 20 incredible years in our sponsor relationship, we’re thrilled to continue working with Joe Gibbs Racing and driver Kyle Busch," Interstate Batteries Vice President Jane Koenecke said.
