Was Coyne cheated out of $205K by the IRL?

Dale Coyne, who owns Dale Coyne Racing, still isn't convinced his driver, Alex Lloyd, should have been placed behind Marco Andretti in the final Indy boxscore. IndyCar officials ruled that Andretti maintained the required average speed to keep others, including Lloyd, from passing him on the final lap under caution.

Chief steward Brian Barnhart said Andretti averaged 65 mph from the timing line at the exit of turn four to the finish line. Coyne argued that Andretti went from 84 mph to 50 mph; the requirement was 65 mph. The difference between finishing third and fourth was $205,200, which is more than Helio Castroneves got for winning the pole ($175,000).

"We try to look forward not back, but I still don't agree with it," Coyne said. "I guess the good thing is, 90 percent of the world (through TV) thinks we finished third."
