Pocono to replace inside guardrail with SAFER barriers

Following recommendations from NASCAR and the Midwest Roadside Safety Facility at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Pocono Raceway will replace the inner guardrail of the facility with SAFER barriers between turns 1 and 2 as well as turns 2 and 3.

Construction of the SAFER barrier will be completed for the 2011 races at the track, according to a track news release.

Pocono added SAFER barriers to sections of its outer wall in 2004.
