Montezemolo not happy with F1 team

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has admitted that he is far from happy with the way the Ferrari Formula One team is going this season, the Maranello based squad only winning one of the seven races already contested this season and currently sitting third in the constructor’s standings behind Red Bull racing and McLaren.

In the recent Turkish Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso struggled to qualify in twelfth place and during the race he spent several laps dicing for position with a rookie racer from his former team, Renault.

“Regarding our team development I am not happy at the moment," he told the BBC. "At the start of the season we were first and second in the first race at Bahrain. I have pushed my people a lot to recuperate. After the first three races we had been at the top of the world championship. Now we are third [in the team standings] and fourth [in the drivers' standings]."

While there are still twelve races to go in the current championship, Montezemolo admitted that he is still not sure if the team will be able to recover and be in a position to fight for world championship glory….

"It's too early to say," he said when asked if the team could recover. “Today there's very tight competition."
