AJ Racing for Charity on Tuesday
The racer, who started in karts before moving up through formula cars and then switching to NASCAR, has continued to grow his range of experience every chance that he gets. AJ started the year off with another run at the front of the pack in the Rolex Sports Cars, and he’ll now be adding the high-powered Modifieds to his resume.
Driving in his first-ever IMKA modified race on pavement, AJ will drive the No. 97 RacingAwarenes.com A Cause For Kids machine at Berlin City Raceway on Tuesday night. The outing will raise money and awareness on what the Raceway calls the biggest race of the year as AJ will be joined by a handful of fellow NASCAR Sprint Cup pilots.
“This opportunity came up to race something I've never raced before, and doing it for for a great cause is even better," said AJ. “I have no idea what to expect, but I’ll hopefully have a good run. I really like the chance to race every weekend in NASCAR, and even though we have an intense schedule, it is great to sneak some more races in during the week like this!"
Allmendinger will arrive fresh from a hard-fought 11th place finish this weekend in the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 at Michigan International Raceway as he scored his fourth consecutive top-15 result.
The Tuesday night race will precede an extended trip out West as AJ heads to his home state ahead of next weekends Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway.
