Villeneuve posts top speed in Nationwide final practice
Former Formula One champion Jacques Villeneuve led the final Nationwide Series practice Friday at Road America. Villeneuve, driving the No. 32 for Braun Racing, turned a lap of 106.773 mph on the 4.048-mile course, which will host the Bucyrus 200 on Saturday afternoon.
Second on the speed chart was another road-course ace – TriStar Motorsports’ Tony Ave, who is replacing Jason Keller this weekend.
Penske Racing’s Justin Allgaier was third, with D’Hondt Humphrey Motorsports’ Patrick Long and JR Motorsports’ Ron Fellows rounding out the top five.
None of the teams with Sprint Cup drivers participated in the second practice, but all participated in the first practice – Parker Kligerman drove for Brad Keselowski, Erik Darnell drove for Carl Edwards and Michel Jourdain Jr. drove for Paul Menard.
The Cup drivers will fly tonight to Road America with qualifying scheduled for 10:35 a.m. EDT Saturday followed by the 50-lap race at 3:30 p.m.
