Grosjean on the Auto GP grid with DAMS

Another former F.1 driver joins the Auto GP grid. Romain Grosjean, Renault F1 driver in 2009, will race in Spa-Francorchamps driving a car prepared by DAMS. The Frenchman, who was Renault's test driver in 2008 and stepped up as full-time driver the following year, had a very successful career in single-seaters. He put himself under the spotlights with great results in GP2, winning eight races and clinching the 2008 GP2 Asia title, and in F3, dominating the 2007 Euro Series with 6 race wins and 12 podium finishes. In 2010 Romain is racing in the Fia GT1 World Championship with a Matech Ford GT. He is currently leading the series thanks to two race wins, in Abu Dhabi and Brno.
This new commitment in Auto GP is the perfect chance for Grosjean to get back in a single-seater, as he explains: "I am really excited with this new challenge and I would like first of all to thank the DAMS team for this opportunity. I am really looking forward to be back in a single-seater car. It is a great experience I will live with the DAMS team and I am sure that it will be very productive for both of us. Spa-Francorchamps is a beautiful circuit and it is always something special racing there with a powerful and competitive car".
Grosjean is the second Auto GP driver to have raced in F.1, together with Giorgio Pantano. Besides this, to confirm the high standard of the series' starting grid, other three drivers had a chance to test a Formula One car. Luca Filippi was Honda F1's test driver for the 2008 season, Jan Charouz is currently a reserve and test driver for Renault F1, while Edoardo Piscopo tested the Ferrari F2008 in Fiorano two years ago, as a prize for finishing runner-up in the Italian F3 Championship.
