Kobayashi fined €2,400 for speeding

European Grand Prix points-scorer Kamui Kobayashi has been handed a fine by Formula 1 governing body the FIA for breaking pre-race speed limits in Valencia on Sunday.

The incident in question for the Sauber driver was recorded at 1:37pm local time, 23 minutes before the start of the race, as Kobayashi – who went on to finish seventh and pick up six World Championship points – was caught speeding on the reconnaissance lap from the pit lane to the grid.

Having breached article 30.12 of the sporting code, driving at 71.9km/h (44.7mph) in a 60km/h (37.3mph) zone, Kobayashi is fined €2,400 (just under £2,000).
